First Reconciliation

First Reconciliation is a great time to teach our children about God's loving forgiveness.  We all make mistakes but God knows our hearts and loves us no matter what we do.  Children learn the importance of apologizing and forgiving others too.

"And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God
for Christ's sake has forgiven you."  Ephesians 4:32

After receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time, our children gave their testimonials:

"I felt very scared because it was the first time and very happy because it was over with.  I felt happy because I am free of sin."

"I was nervous and scared because Mom and Dad were not there.  Then happy when I was with Mom and Dad and I was excited.  I feel happy that my sins are gone."

"I remember being scared when I was talking.  After I felt better than before. I'm different because I help my mom do laundry."

"I felt happy and the priest made me feel happy."

"I felt a little scared and then happy.  I was scared because I am shy.  I was happy after because I got all of my sins off my chest.  I have a fresh start.  I am more connected to God because I can make my heart open."

"I felt scared but after, I felt happy.  My sins were forgiven and my relationship with God got closer."

"I was scared because I never did it before.  After I was not so scared because it was over.  I am different because I can ask God for forgiveness."

"Happy!  After I felt sad because I wanted to talk to the priest more.  Now I feel closer to God."

"Nervous; afterwards I felt happy.  I am different because I have no more sins."

"I felt scared.  I saw my friends, I felt happy.  I had my First Reconciliation."

"I learned that you shouldn't sin.  When I saw the priest, I felt happy.  After I had snacks and then went home."

"I felt happy, it wasn't that bad.  We went downstairs and we ate snacks.  The snacks were yummy.""

"I went to the church and made my First Reconciliation.  First I sat down and I saw my teacher.  I told my sins and after went in the basement and ate treats."

"I went to church, saw my friends.  Reconciliation was good.  Then I ate treats."
