Bereavement Committee
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish Bereavement Committee exists to bring comfort to the families of deceased parishioners. In carrying out our mission, we will provide spiritual and emotional support. Grief and pain will be remembered in our prayers for the souls of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
Funeral Liturgy Planning committee member will call and offer to help arrange the funeral mass. The family can choose from a list of approved readings and songs. Most questions regarding the mass can be answered at this time. At a time when many decisions have to be made, the committee will try to guide the family through this difficult period. The United States Catholic Conference of Bishops Committee (USCCB) has readings appropriate for the Funeral Liturgy and may be found here: Funeral Liturgy readings
Wake Prayer Services ~The priest or deacon of the parish will conduct the wake service during the wake hours.
Cards to Family and Friends Remembrance cards are sent to the families of the deceased 30 to 45 days after the funeral. (This is one way we remember the ones left behind.)
Book of Remembrance which is positioned on the St. Joseph altar is the Book of the Dead which holds the names of deceased members of our parish. During the funeral mass, a member of the family will be asked to enter the deceased’s name in this book. The book is on permanent display throughout the year and we invite your prayers.
Remembrance Masses ~ We will be remembering the deceased of the parish with special Bereavement Mass on or near All Souls Day.
In Service:
