Lector Ministry
Lector, also called Reader, is a person chosen or set apart to read Holy Scripture in the church services. To read the Word of God is an act of proclamation of the faith itself. Whenever you proclaim at Mass you are helping, by the humblest work of your voice, to bring Christ a little fulfillment.
To prepare for readings Lectors are provided with a workbook of readings for each Church year or may use the website www.usccb.org
These resources contain information about the
context and meaning of the passages to be read. Studying
this can help make your proclaiming of the scripture more
confident and meaningful to your listeners.
