RULES

As a result of last year’s meetings and attendance at several other parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society meetings, the following ideas have been agreed to in principle. We may modify them or accept them as they are as guidelines for the operation of our parish “conference”.

Meetings:

Twice a month, September through June.
First meeting will be the Thursday after the Parish Council meeting at 3:00 p.m. in the rectory.
Second meeting 15 days later at 7:00 p.m. in the church basement.

Activities:

bulletHome visits to shut-ins
bulletTransporting parishioners to mass; “arranged individually”
bulletFall Crop Walk
bulletAnnual clothing drive with Saint Vincent de Paul truck
bulletThanksgiving liturgy participation, month’s rent for Lackawanna Food Pantry
bulletBulletin publicity for donations, activities, finding needy
bulletFour person “disaster response” team
bulletFood basket distribution at Thanksgiving, Christmas, two per month and when needed
bulletReferrals to agencies more able to help (Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul Society store, Lackawanna Food Pantry, soup kitchens, Presbyterian Clothing Store in Lackawanna)
bulletVolunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Society store and kitchen on Main Street, Buffalo

Income:

bulletHunger Bowl, Thanksgiving Collection, donations
bulletCollect food in bride’s room throughout year
bulletClothing picked up when requested, taken to Lackawanna
bulletClothing Store
bulletSt. Vincent de Paul Society clothing truck collection, yearly
bulletSpecial needs/requests of clothing, furniture advertised in Bulletin, picked up, delivered

Disbursal:

bulletFood to Lackawanna Food Pantry
bulletClothing to Presbyterian Clothing Store in Lackawanna
bulletAnnual clothing drive to SVDP Store
bulletBaby furniture and supplies to Harvest House, Seneca Street
bulletSpecial needs/requests delivered
bulletFood baskets Thanksgiving, Christmas, special needs
bulletMoney needs through rectory, or Treasurer plus another member
bulletfood vouchers, pay bills, no cash
